The floor drain is an important interface connecting the drainage pipe system and the indoor floor. As an important part of the drainage system in the residence, its performance directly affects the quality of indoor air and is very important for the control of odor in the bathroom. Implement the national standard “floor drain” (GB/T 27710-2020).
1. Traditional water seal floor drain
The problem with this floor drain:
Advantages: Inexpensive, widely used in the products of the rough house builders.
Disadvantages: poor self-cleaning ability, easy to block, difficult to clean; slow drainage
2. Eccentric block type floor drain
Use a sealing gasket, fix it with a pin on one side, add a lead block, and use the principle of gravity eccentricity to seal. This structure was horizontal at first, and later evolved into vertical and vertical with water seal. During drainage, the gasket is opened under the action of water pressure, and after the drainage is completed, the gasket is closed under the gravity of the lead block.
The problem with this floor drain:
Advantages: Cheap and easy to produce.
Disadvantages: (1) the gasket is a mechanical structure, and the sealing is not strict; (2) the pins are easily damaged; (3) the flap is easy to be stuck and not reset. Basically can’t solve the smell problem.
3. Spring type floor drain
Seal by spring tensioning the gasket at the lower end of the seal core. When there is no water in the floor drain or there is little water, the gasket is stretched upward by the spring to close the pipeline. When the water in the floor drain reaches a certain height, and the gravity of the water exceeds the spring force, the spring is pressed down by the water, the gasket is opened, and the water drains automatically.
The problem with this floor drain:
Pros: Good deodorant until the spring fails
Disadvantages: (1) The spring is made of ferroboron, which is easy to corrode when exposed to sewage for a long time, resulting in weakened elasticity, failure, and short life; (2) The spring is easily entangled with hair, which affects the rebound of the gasket; (3) The gasket is a mechanical Structure, not tightly closed. It needs to be cleaned or replaced frequently, otherwise the deodorant effect will not be achieved at all.
4. Magnetite floor drain
The structure of this floor drain is similar to the spring type, and it is sealed with the magnetic suction gasket of two magnets. When the water pressure is greater than the magnetic force, the gasket opens downward to drain the water. When the drainage is over, the water pressure decreases. When the water pressure is lower than the magnetic force, the magnet block is attracted and the gasket is pulled up.
The problem with this floor drain:
Advantages: Plastic cores can be processed in different types.
Disadvantages: (1) Due to the poor quality of ground sewage, such as washing items, brushing the floor and other reasons, it will contain some iron impurities adsorbed on the magnet. (2) The magnetic force will gradually weaken and disappear, affecting the opening and closing of the gasket up and down, and it is easy to fail.
5. Gravity floor drain
It does not rely on all external forces such as water seals, magnets, springs, etc., uses the scientific principle of mechanical reverse gravity, mechanical piston structure, and uses the gravity of the water flow to automatically adjust the opening and closing of the sealing cover to achieve a floor drain with deodorant effect.
The problem with this floor drain:
Pros: Completely sealed for long-lasting results.
Disadvantage: Core cost is high.
6. Silicone floor drain
Seal with two thin sheets of silicone or an open-bottomed silicone bag. During drainage, the bottom of the silicone is washed away by water. After the drainage is completed, the bottom of the silicone is automatically attached due to its own elasticity and the opening due to residual moisture, so as to achieve the deodorant effect.
The problem with this floor drain:
Advantages: Silicone has good anti-aging performance and self-elasticity, good deodorant performance, and fast drainage.
Disadvantages: The mechanical opening and closing of silicone is not durable under normal circumstances.
7. New water-sealed floor drain
The water-sealed floor drain is the floor drain with a long-lasting anti-odor effect on the market!
The water-sealed floor drain uses the bell or casing device in the water storage cavity to form an “N”-shaped or “U”-shaped water storage bend, and relies on the water seal to isolate the odor and germs in the drainage pipe to achieve the deodorant effect. floor drain.
The problem with this floor drain:
Advantages: long-term use will not be damaged without mechanical principle, the effect is good.
Disadvantages: The cost of stainless steel core is high.
